Why adopt a pet?
The reasons are endless, but we’ll just cover just one reason here. These little angels somehow ended up on the wrong path. They were unwanted and uncared for until they arrived at ICARE. And while our fosters love the animals they care for dearly, these sweethearts deserve a life-long home. All it requires is your love and care.

Complete an Application
We aim to secure a forever home for each animal. This means finding a responsible, lifelong family fit. The application at icarearkansas.com/application helps us ensure the pet suits you for the long term. Pets are matched based on their needs, not on a first-come basis.
Once you submit the application, our Adoption Committee reviews it. They’ll call you, conduct an interview, and answer any queries.
The interview covers your plans for the pet’s daily care, including exercise and vet visits. We’ll ask about existing pets and how they might adapt to a new one. Also, we consider how children or others in your home will interact with the new pet.
For renters, we confirm pet permissions with your landlord.
Finally, we contact your two personal references and vet for further insights.

Pick Up New Family Member
Pick up day is an exciting day. To ensure all goes well, be sure to prepare ahead. If you are adopting a dog, bring a collar, leash, and a harness. The reason for the harness is your dog is going into new surroundings and may be skidish at first. The harness will make sure he/she does not get loose. Also make sure your home has been “pet-proofed”. These requirements will be discussed in more detail with the adoption coordinator.
